About Matthew

Matthew Scott is the firm's managing partner, with a practice focused on corporate and securities litigation as well as regulatory compliance advice. He has experience with complex commercial and securities disputes, including conflicts between buyers and sellers in M&A deals, investor loss claims, class actions, and regulatory investigations and enforcement matters. He also advises companies, including fund managers, portfolio managers, and dealers, on compliance management systems and remediation programs. Before rejoining the firm in 2022, he spent 13 years in the legal and compliance departments of CI Financial Corp. as vice president and chief litigation counsel, where he oversaw complaint handling, whistleblower policy, and privacy and anti-money laundering compliance. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001 and holds an LL.M. from the University of Toronto and an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia.
