Matthew Ebbs was called to the Ontario bar after earning an LL.B. in the common law program at the University of Ottawa, and later completed an MBA at Queen's University. Ebbs earlier obtained an honours degree in International Relations from Carleton University after three years at St. Michael's College, University of Toronto (1984-1987). Since being called to the bar in 1993, Ebbs has focused on commercial and residential real estate, commercial leasing, estates, wills and powers of attorney, and litigation and arbitration, and is a qualified arbitrator for alternative dispute resolution matters. Ebbs comes from a long line of local lawyers, including a grandfather who played for the Ottawa Senators in 1906 and practised law in Ottawa until 1965, and a father who was a prominent local lawyer for 60 years, until 2014. Ebbs also practises sports law as a certified NHLPA agent and family advisor to hockey players and international athletes.
