About Matthew
Matthew G. Williams represents ship owners, carriers, cargo interests and their insurers on matters including charter party disputes, ship arrest and judicial sale, collision claims, and builder and repairer liability, and has appeared before all levels of court in Canada. He also has extensive experience in multi-party commercial litigation, including coverage disputes. Matthew is recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada for Admiralty Law and was named Halifax's Maritime Law 'Lawyer of the Year' in 2015. He is a director of the Canadian Maritime Law Association and a member of the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters and the Eastern Admiralty Law Association. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Saint Mary's University and a Master of Arts in Critical Legal Studies from Carleton University.
