About Marlin

Marlin Horst is Shibley Righton LLP's Managing Partner, practicing business law, real estate law and wills and estates. He acts for corporations across industries such as financial services, architecture, manufacturing, hospitality and energy, with a lending practice spanning syndicated, senior, subordinated, asset-based, real estate and project finance, and he also handles restructuring transactions on behalf of both creditors and debtors. In addition to his corporate practice, Marlin advises high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners on estate planning and administration. Before joining Shibley Righton, he practiced corporate and finance law in Toronto and Bermuda. He was a sessional professor at Queen's University Law School for nearly ten years, teaching Commercial Law and the Personal Property Security Act, and an adjunct professor of Banking Law at the University of Western Ontario for over ten years. Marlin earned his LLB and BA from the University of Western Ontario and an LLM in Real Property Law from Cambridge University, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1989.
