About Mariya

Mariya Protsenko practises criminal defence litigation at Neuberger & Partners, handling matters that range from drug charges and impaired or dangerous driving to sexual and domestic assault and financial crime allegations. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015, where she took part in the Innocence Project, reviewing files of people claiming wrongful conviction, and volunteered as a caseworker with the Community & Legal Aid Services Programme focusing on criminal law. Mariya articled under senior partner Joseph Neuberger and worked on complex files involving sexual and domestic assault, conspiracy, and murder charges before being called to the bar in 2016. She holds an honours degree in criminology and psychology from York University and is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.
