Founder, Principal Lawyer at Oak Tree Estate Law
Marissa Berry is the founder and principal lawyer of Oak Tree Estate Law, with more than 20 years of experience in wills and estate law. Before establishing the firm, she practiced estate law at a top-tier national firm in its Calgary and Vancouver offices, and managed CIBC Trust Company's operations across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, advising high-net-worth clients on estate planning and overseeing the trust company's role as power of attorney, executor and trustee. Marissa resided in Alberta until 2020, when she moved to the Okanagan with her family, and opened Oak Tree Estate Law in Kelowna in 2022. She maintains admission to the law societies of both Alberta and British Columbia, allowing her to assist clients on both sides of the provincial border. Her practice covers wills, estates and residential real estate, including second-marriage estate planning, inter vivos and testamentary trusts, insurance trusts, corporate wills, international estates, and grants of probate and estate administration, along with court applications to vary or confirm wills, vary trusts, and remove executors, attorneys or trustees. Marissa holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation and is a board member of the Kelowna Estate Planning Society, a member of STEP Okanagan, and a member of the Canadian Bar Association's Wills and Trusts and Real Estate sections. She previously served as president of the Calgary Estate Planning Society.
