About Carla
Carla Bekkering is a founding partner of Bekkering York, originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Simon Fraser University in 1987 and a law degree from the University of Victoria in 1991, articled at a Vancouver law firm, and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1992. She was later a judicial clerk for the Tax Court of Canada in Ottawa before returning to British Columbia, and she has practised civil litigation for her entire career, appearing before the Provincial Court, the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal of British Columbia. She is a member of Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Canadian Bar Association, the Vancouver Bar Association, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, and the ADR Institute of British Columbia, where she is a Qualified Mediator, Chartered Arbitrator, and President of the Board of Directors. She is also an adjudicator for the Ministry of the Attorney General Bylaw Adjudication Program and an approved mediator for the Law Society of British Columbia's Fee Mediation Program.
