About Madison

Madison Black's commercial law practice centres on franchising, distribution and supply chain matters, along with consumer protection and consumer product issues spanning a range of sectors. She counsels Canadian and international franchisors on every stage of Canadian franchise law, from drafting franchise agreements through to preparing disclosure documents. Madison also guides retailers and other businesses through general commercial and contractual work, including terms of use, service agreements, distribution and supply arrangements, and marketing and e-commerce compliance. She supports emerging and high-growth companies on general commercial matters and has a particular interest in helping female-led businesses scale. Before entering law, Madison completed an honours B.Sc. in Life Sciences and an M.Sc. in Anatomy and Cell Biology at Queen's University and worked in pharmaceutical marketing.
