Tax LawMartel is a fourth-generation member of the Martel family of lawyers and the second generation to practise at Martel Cantin. He focuses his practice on tax and estate planning, advising business owners on incorporating and growing a company, transferring it to family, structuring employee incentive plans, and protecting personal and estate assets. He was called to the Barreau du Québec in 1975 and holds a Master's degree in Taxation from the Université de Sherbrooke, also obtained in 1975, and a law degree from the Université de Montréal (1973). He is an associate professor in the Université de Sherbrooke's Master's in Taxation program and a founding member and first secretary of the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF). He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in corporate law, tax law, and trusts and estates since 2021, and has authored numerous articles and books on tax and estate planning, including La corporation sans but lucratif au Québec – Fiscalité.
