Wills, Estates & TrustsLawrence Silber practices corporate and commercial law with particular expertise in income tax and estate and succession planning, advising clients on business matters and residential and commercial real estate purchases, sales, and refinancing. He works extensively with families running businesses together, helping balance family and business interests, and has advised on the generational transition of management and ownership for several prominent family businesses through the Canadian Association of Family Enterprises. He continues to act for real estate developers on multi-unit and condominium projects, from land acquisition through financing and conveyancing, and advises businesses on corporate reorganizations using tools such as family trusts and holding companies. He completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' in-depth tax course, sits on the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners' Ottawa chapter board, and has instructed the Business Law section of the Ontario Bar Admission Course. In 2023 he received the County of Carleton Law Association's Abe Feinstein Solicitors Award. He was called to the bar in 1986, earning his B.S.C., B.C.L., and LL.B. from McGill University.
