About Laura

Laura McPheeters has worked exclusively in criminal law throughout her legal career, first as a prosecutor in Vancouver and Vernon for many years and then as a criminal defence lawyer in Vernon, giving her an understanding of the law from both sides. Her office is in Vernon, but she will travel to other locations in British Columbia to represent clients facing criminal or motor vehicle matters, negotiating with Crown counsel and advocating in court for the best possible outcome. Before becoming a lawyer, McPheeters was a professional cellist for over ten years, performing and recording orchestral and chamber music and Broadway shows across Canada and the United States. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, along with Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from UBC, and belongs to the Canadian Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers' Association of British Columbia, the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society, and the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers.
