About Melody
Melody Martin is the founder and owner of Martin Estate and Injury Law. She graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Arts with distinction at age 20, scored in the 98th percentile on the LSAT, and received an entrance scholarship to the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she was the first graduate of the combined LL.B./MSW program, earning her law degree and a Master of Social Work simultaneously. She later attended Harvard Law School, graduating with a Master of Laws, and was selected from the top law students nationally for a clerkship at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. She began her career as a criminal defence lawyer in Vancouver, then prosecuted federal offences as an agent for the Department of Justice in the Fraser Valley, before moving into civil litigation, primarily personal injury and motor vehicle accident claims. She practiced in the Lower Mainland for 18 years before moving to the Okanagan, where in 2014 she founded Martin Estate and Injury Law alone, without staff, in a three-room office in Vernon. The firm has since grown into one of the largest law firms in the North Okanagan, with offices in Vernon and Lake Country and remote lawyers and staff in the Lower Mainland. Melody is a past president of the Vernon Women in Business group and a mentor to young people considering law as a career.
