About Joe
Joe Murphy co-founded Murphy Battista LLP with Joe Battista, K.C. in 1982, and the firm has grown from two lawyers to more than 20, with offices in downtown Vancouver, Surrey and Kelowna and a support staff of more than 60. His medical knowledge, gained partly through work as an insurance adjuster during law school, helped shape his practice as a personal injury lawyer. He has acted on numerous cases that established or changed the law in British Columbia, some of which have been cited hundreds of times by other judges. Joe was awarded Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel) in 1999. He earned his LLB from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC in 1975 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1976. Now semi-retired, he still provides help and support to the firm's other lawyers, and has served as president of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
