About Karen

Kara Dawson is the owner and founder of Little Town Law, a family law practice serving the Cowichan Valley and Victoria, British Columbia. She handles divorce, cohabitation and separation agreements, division of property, and matters involving access to children and guardianship, working with mediators where possible to reduce the cost and length of disputes. A dual citizen of Canada and Australia who grew up in Victoria, Dawson earned a Bachelor's degree from Simon Fraser University in 1994, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Murdoch University in Perth, Australia in 1997, and a Master of Laws (Distinction) from the University of Western Australia in 2001. She was admitted to the bar of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia in 2000, and practised and taught law in Australia for twenty years before returning to British Columbia.
