Kai Hsieh

About Kai

Kai Hsieh is an associate at Civic Legal LLP with a general municipal law practice focused on real estate development. He regularly drafts section 219 covenants, statutory rights of way, and other legal agreements for real estate projects, and assists with matters spanning rezoning and development permit issuance to air space parcel subdivision and occupancy permit issuance, as well as broader local government matters including procurement and regulatory issues. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC, articled with a provincial organization, and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in May 2022. During law school he volunteered with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program and Pro Bono Students Canada's A2JBC initiative, for which he was a co-recipient of the 2021 Honourable Donna J. Martinson Access to Justice Award, and competed in the 2021 Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot, where he and his partner won Best Factum for the Appellant. Before law school, he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction from UBC and worked as a Process Improvement Specialist at an architectural glass fabrication company.
