About Jonathan Pettit

Condominium law is Jonathan Pettit's focus. An associate in SV Law's Guelph office, Pettit works with clients from the earliest stages of a development through the years after a building is up and running. For developers, that means help structuring a project, preparing disclosure documents and getting the condominium registered. Later on, the work turns to governance and management advice, plus disputes, with lien enforcement and litigation both on the list.

Day to day, Pettit's files run from routine management questions to enforcement efforts and mediation and arbitration hearings. Development and the first years of a brand new condominium are a special interest.

Pettit came to law with earlier experience as a legal clerk. A J.D. from the University of Toronto followed in 2022, and the call to the Ontario bar came in 2023. Pettit also hosts the SV Condo Webinar series, which covers what's new and what's emerging in condo law, and has written on topics from pets and parking disputes to gym noise and the CMRAO's guidance for property managers.

When the office closes, you'll find Pettit training in karate or over a chessboard. There's also a manuscript in progress, and Pettit insists it'll be finished someday.
