About Joel

Joel Covelli is a lawyer operating his own independent practice in association with Anchor Law, managing his own clients and trust account while sharing office space and other resources with the firm. He focuses on guiding clients through the Canadian immigration system. His interest in justice and human rights issues developed during undergraduate studies at Amherst College focused on democratic governance, the rule of law, and citizen security in the developing world. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, including a two-semester exchange at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Joel speaks Spanish and belongs to the Law Society of Ontario, the Refugee Lawyers Association of Ontario and the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers.
