About Jason A. Saltzman

Jason A. Saltzman is a Toronto partner at Gowling WLG who helps companies raise capital and list their shares. Jason's clients are businesses from around the world, both young and well established, and most of them work in tech, mining, cannabis or the life sciences. The financing side of the practice also reaches investment dealers, online investment portals, issuers, and investors both private and institutional, on equity and debt deals as small as a startup round and as large as a public offering or a project financing.

Listings are a big part of the work. Jason has brought numerous companies onto the Canadian Securities Exchange, the TSX Venture Exchange and the TSX, by IPO, reverse takeover, capital pool transaction or direct listing. Jason has also made regular trips to Israel and the US to meet emerging companies and the people around them and explain how a listing on the TSX or another Canadian exchange can help them raise money in North America. Esports is on the résumé too: Jason acted for OverActive Media Group when it secured the Toronto Defiant franchise in the Overwatch League.

Called to the Ontario bar in 1997 after law school at Osgoode Hall, Jason now practises in the firm's Capital Markets and Public M&A Practice Group and co-leads its Israel Desk. Jason previously sat on the management committee of the Toronto office and co-headed its business law department. Outside the firm, Jason spent two terms, from 2014 to 2017, on the Ontario Securities Commission's advisory committee for small and medium enterprises, and has been a director and officer of public companies and not-for-profits, Chrysalis 12 Inc. among them.

Jason speaks and writes often about corporate finance and securities, with panels for groups like the Ontario Bar Association and the Canada Israel Chamber of Commerce. Jason has been recognized in Best Lawyers since 2015.
