About Jamie
Jamie Smith is a foreign-trained lawyer who earned a Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law and completed accreditation through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada before articling with Gerig Hamilton Neeland LLP in Red Deer starting in 2015. Smith was called to the Alberta Bar in 2016 and has worked both in private practice and with a Central Alberta non-profit, providing legal education and offering some of the province's earliest remote and limited-scope legal services before the pandemic. Smith practises family law and divorce, alternative dispute resolution, real estate and estate planning, appearing before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King's Bench as well as handling non-litigious matters such as wills and real estate transactions. Smith later completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and holds status as a Canadian Certified Counsellor and trained Parenting Coordinator, and has served two terms on the board of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.
