About Jamie
Jamie Maclaren graduated from UBC Law in 2003 and volunteered with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program throughout law school, serving as its Executive Director in 2002. From 2005 to 2010 he led Pro Bono Law of BC as Executive Director before orchestrating its merger with the Western Canada Society to Access Justice, and since 2010 has served as Access Pro Bono's Founding Executive Director. In 2021 he established the Everyone Legal Clinic as a pilot within the Law Society of BC's Innovation Sandbox. He designed Canada's first law school access-to-justice course in 2015 and conducted an external review of BC legal aid delivery in 2019, and volunteers teaching law to people experiencing homelessness and addiction in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. He holds an LLB from UBC Law (2003) and a diploma in international law from the University of Copenhagen, and is a Life Bencher of the Law Society of BC, designated King's Counsel in 2017.
