James L. Miglin is a partner at Edward H. Royle and Partners LLP and an experienced criminal trial lawyer who has appeared before every level of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal, plus numerous administrative and regulatory tribunals. His practice focuses on defending serious criminal charges, including drug and firearms offences, assault, sexual assault, attempted murder, manslaughter, and murder. He also acts for clients in civil proceedings against police and public authorities involving alleged misconduct or Charter violations. James earned his undergraduate degree at Queen's University and his law degree at Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law, where he won the Justice Ronald N. Pugsley Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. Before joining Royle he articled and worked as an associate at a major national firm, and he now volunteers with the Ontario Justice Education Network.
