About James

James H. Cooke is Of Counsel at Miller Canfield's Windsor office. He graduated on the Dean's Honour Roll from the University of Windsor Law School in 1984, articled at the Bay Street firm of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, and was called to the bar in 1986. He has practised litigation for more than 30 years, representing clients in shareholder disputes, insolvency matters, breach of contract, international commercial arbitration, wrongful dismissals, and commercial and business litigation generally. He successfully represented a debtor in an insolvency matter contesting a receiver's fees, in a case that became the leading Canadian authority on receiver and receiver's counsel fees, and represented a large Canadian vegetable distributor in an international commercial arbitration. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Windsor (1984) and an LL.M. from the University of Toronto.
