About James

James Cotter has practiced as a trial lawyer for more than 25 years, first in Vancouver and for the past two decades in the Okanagan. His practice covers personal injury claims, wills and estate litigation, civil litigation, municipal law, health law, school law, and insurance law, and he regularly conducts trials in the B.C. Supreme Court, including jury trials, and has appeared before the B.C. Court of Appeal. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1995 after earning his LLB and Bachelor of Commerce in 1994. Cotter is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C., has volunteered with the Access Pro Bono program, and previously taught law-related courses at BCIT.
