About James
James A. Butlin, K.C. was called to the Alberta Bar in 1972 and has built extensive experience in litigation, personal injury cases, and trial proceedings, focusing today on personal injury litigation, fatal accidents, and the probate and administration of estates. During the 1970s and 1980s he was involved in a number of serious criminal trials, practising in both southern Alberta and British Columbia's interior before returning to Alberta to assist with a major homicide trial. He has represented the Administrator in serious civil litigation matters under the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Act and has extensive experience serving plaintiffs in contractual matters. James earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary in 1967 and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1971. He is a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and the Southern Alberta Pioneers.
