J. David Holmested is the founder of Holmested & Associés, established in 1986. J. David Holmested began a legal career in litigation, banking law, and bankruptcy and insolvency law at a large Montreal firm before turning, from 1980 onward, to business law and corporate law, with particular attention to commercial leasing and acquisitions. J. David Holmested was called to the Quebec Bar in 1975, holds a law degree (L.L.L.) from Université de Montréal (1974), studied at the Sorbonne (1971) and the Institut de sciences politiques de Paris (1971), and holds an A.B. from Brown University (1970). J. David Holmested speaks French and English, has been a guest lecturer at McGill University and the Université du Québec à Montréal, and has spoken at conferences for the International Council of Shopping Centers and Insight Conferences. J. David Holmested is a member of the Barreau du Québec, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Association de planification fiscale et financière, the International Council of Shopping Centres, and the American Bar Association.
