About Ian
Ian Gauthier is a trial lawyer and ad-hoc prosecutor for the Crown with over two decades of experience across the justice system, practising criminal law, civil asset forfeiture, academic and non-academic misconduct matters, and professional discipline and regulatory offences. Before law, he worked in policing, civil forfeiture, corrections, criminal records, tribunals and justice policy in Alberta and BC, including a comprehensive inquiry into Alberta's corrections bail supervision program. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology with Distinction from the University of Alberta (2009), a Master of Public Administration in Justice Policy from the University of Victoria (2015), and a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law (2018). Ian is a supervisor with Pro Bono Students Canada at UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law and practises through a law corporation.
