About Patrick

Patrick Johnston is a criminal lawyer and independent practitioner at Gauthier & Mines, assisting clients throughout BC with property crimes, fraud allegations, assault and weapons offences, drug charges, police investigations, bylaw infractions and motor vehicle offences. Before joining the firm, he articled with two prominent criminal defence firms in Vancouver and, upon his call to the bar in 2019, established his own criminal law practice. He earned his Juris Doctor, through the Co-Op Program, from the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law in 2017, and a Bachelor of Arts in Global Political Economy (Advanced Major) from the University of Manitoba in 2012. During his co-op terms he worked for a union and the Department of Justice, and spent his final law school semester at the Law Centre, a clinical program assisting low-income individuals under supervision.
