About Ian

Ian Kirby has built his career exclusively around civil litigation, concentrating on insurance disputes, personal injury, product liability, and commercial litigation. He has appeared as counsel in more than 300 trials, arbitrations, inquests, and appeals. Ian earned his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School following undergraduate studies in political science at the University of Western Ontario, and he was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982. In 1991, the Law Society certified him as a specialist in civil litigation. He has held numerous executive positions with the Ontario Bar Association, including president and treasurer, and was appointed to the Ontario Class Proceedings Committee and later the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee. Ian also teaches and writes for legal, insurance, and business audiences on topics such as trial advocacy and mediation.
