About Hugh

Hugh Cheetham has practised international trade and investment law for over 30 years, joining Cassidy Levy Kent in 2022. He previously served as Senior General Counsel in Canada's Trade Law Bureau, where he led negotiations on major agreements including the Trans-Pacific Partnership and CUSMA, represented Canada as lead counsel in more than twenty WTO proceedings, and appeared before binational panels under NAFTA. He is a member of the Ontario bar, holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.A. with Honours from the University of Toronto, and earned an LL.M. with Honours from the University of London (LSE). He received the Government of Canada's Head of the Public Service Award.
