About Helan

Helan is an associate lawyer at GKS Law Firm whose practice focuses on Workers' Compensation appeals. She previously worked as a WorkSafeBC Review Officer deciding workplace injury cases, which gives her insight into how claims are evaluated and how to anticipate challenges. She has also articled at an insurance corporation and represented clients before the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Helan earned her Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University, where she received the Dean's Course Prize for Contracts Law and for Immigration and Refugee Law, and served as a senior editor of the Thompson Rivers University Law Review. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University.
