About Guy

Guy Bélanger earned his law degree from the University of Ottawa and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since January 6, 1975. He began his career in general practice, including civil and corporate law, before becoming legal counsel to the Fraternité des chauffeurs d'autobus de Montréal from 1979 to 1982, negotiating collective agreements and handling grievances. In 1982 he became legal counsel to the Fédération des policiers municipaux du Québec, helping municipal police associations improve working conditions and member services, and drafting parliamentary submissions on policing issues. Following the 2002 police reorganization, he founded a law firm and a services corporation continuing to serve the FPMQ. He joined Trudel Nadeau in 2003 while remaining dedicated to FPMQ matters, and helped found Roy Bélanger on January 1, 2016, acting as managing partner of the new firm. He has handled the FPMQ's affairs for more than 40 years.
