About Emma Dalziel

When a commercial loan goes into default, Emma Dalziel is on the lender's side of the table, counselling financial institutions out of Gowling WLG's Hamilton office. As a partner with the firm's Recovery Services Group, Emma advises lenders on restructurings and on getting as much back as possible from loans that have gone bad, while keeping an eye on the reputational side of enforcement.

Emma's ties to the firm go back to articling. In 2015, as an articling student in the Hamilton office, Emma contributed to a firm article on new PPSA registration rules in Ontario. Called to the Ontario bar in 2016, Emma came on as an associate that year and joined the partnership effective January 1, 2025. Before law, Emma completed an honours science degree in physiology and psychology at Western, then earned an LLB at the University of Kent.

On complex security and insolvency files, Emma often teams up with Gowling WLG colleagues in other offices. Emma's also shared that experience with other lawyers, most recently speaking to the Ontario Bar Association on receiverships and the enforcement of secured interests.

Emma volunteers on the Pro Bono Ontario hotline and has served as secretary of the board of Kemp Care Network, the Hamilton-area palliative care organization, where Emma also chaired the governance committee.
