Civil Litigation & Dispute ResolutionEmily Chan is an associate at Arvay Finlay LLP, which she joined in 2025 after clerking for four justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She practises administrative, constitutional, human rights, and environmental law. Before law school she worked as a journalist and spent five years in nonprofit communications; during law school she interned at BC's Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, worked with an environmental law charity, took part in the Environmental Law Centre Clinic, volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, and interned with the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing. She received the Joseph Arvay Social Justice Award and the Law Foundation of BC Public Interest Award, and holds a law degree from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University.
