About Elsa

Elsa Kaka is an immigration and refugee protection lawyer at Camino Law Group who represents clients in inadmissibility, refugee protection claims, detention reviews, removal appeals, and humanitarian and compassionate applications. She has experience preparing materials and applications before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and the Federal Court of Canada. Kaka served as Chapter Coordinator of Pro Bono Students Canada from 2018 to 2020 and has held positions with the Black Law Students' Association's Manitoba Chapter and its national association. She has written for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and has been published in the Manitoba Law Journal and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC's magazine The Verdict, including an October 2020 article on the Supreme Court of Canada's justification of Charter breaches and its effect on Black and Indigenous communities.
