About Derek
Derek Sheppard is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group at Gowling WLG in Hamilton practising patent drafting and prosecution before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. He advises on patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues, and drafts IP-related provisions in commercial agreements. Prior to law school, he completed an MSc at the University of Ottawa studying cell regeneration and has published peer-reviewed research on retinal regeneration.
