About Dan

Dan Thomas is a litigator at Ghahhary Thomas LLP with a practice centred on corporate, commercial, securities, and public law litigation, alongside white collar defence and investigations. He practised as a barrister in England & Wales for 12 years before joining the litigation group at McCarthy Tetrault LLP in Toronto and later being admitted to the partnership at a leading Canadian securities litigation boutique. He earned his law degree from the University of Nottingham School of Law in 2004 and a Master of Laws in international business law from the University of Manchester, graduating with distinction. Thomas was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2005 and to the Ontario Bar in 2020. His work includes acting for major Canadian corporations and financial institutions in disputes over banking, commercial contracts, shareholder matters, and fiduciary obligations, and he has represented clients in Ontario Securities Commission and CIRO investigations and enforcement proceedings, including matters involving cryptocurrency regulation. He is ranked by Benchmark Litigation Canada as a Litigation Star and recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for corporate and commercial litigation.
