About Curtis

Curtis D. Mennie is a Calgary criminal defence lawyer who was called to the Alberta Bar in 2014. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 2009 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2014. During law school he volunteered at his school's legal clinic, competed in the Sopinka Cup and Gale Cup moot competitions, and worked on an independent research project under Mark Brayford, Q.C. He articled at the Calgary criminal law firm Foster Iovinelli Beyak, working on files involving criminal driving and serious offences, and remained associated with the firm after his call. Mennie has handled cases involving charges ranging from theft and impaired driving to sexual assault and homicide, and has appeared before courts in Alberta and British Columbia. He volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance and the University of Calgary's Western Canada Moot Team, and is a member of the Calgary Bar Association and the Calgary Defence Lawyers Association.
