Criminal DefenceCraig Leggatt practices corporate, commercial and securities litigation, with a focus on commercial and shareholder disputes and securities-related investigations and enforcement proceedings. He also assists private companies with commercial transactions and corporate governance matters, including annual general meetings, directors' meetings, corporate filings and shareholder agreements. Before entering private practice he spent over 15 years in the capital markets, including investigations and enforcement work with the Alberta Securities Commission, senior compliance roles with investment dealers, and corporate finance work in the venture capital markets. He was previously a Crown Attorney in Toronto and Calgary, prosecuting major criminal cases ranging from fraud and robbery to murder, and he continues to assist individuals and companies in criminal and quasi-criminal proceedings. He was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 1997 and is also a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (1991). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Political Science) from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University.
