About Colin

Colin Simmons focuses his practice on agricultural law, advising on land and surface rights, real estate transactions, farm corporations, farm estate planning, taxation, estate administration, estate litigation and matrimonial property matters. After articling with MacKimmie Matthews in Calgary and working as an extension solicitor for Alberta Agriculture, he opened his own practice in 1987. He has spoken at numerous seminars and conferences on agricultural estate planning and taxation and co-authored Alberta Agriculture's Home Study Course on Farm Estate Planning. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University in 1976 and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1981. He and his family maintain farming interests near Rosemary, Alberta.
