About Clément

Clément Groleau earned a law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1973, was admitted to the bar in 1975, and completed a master's program in labour law in 1979. He worked for the Confédération des syndicats nationaux from 1974 to 1992, serving as a negotiator across the public service, metallurgy, communications and retail sectors, and as director of the CSN's legal department. He founded his own practice in 1992, continuing to represent unions, professional associations and workers, and developed expertise in agriculture, the arts and copyright alongside labour and administrative law. He has appeared before labour tribunals and most Quebec courts, and served as counsel in several commissions of inquiry, including on labour relations at the STCUM, the deaths of two Indigenous men in the Moisie River, and the Gomery Commission on the sponsorship scandal. He also advised a federal committee, chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Gérard La Forest, on sharing the Quebec-Newfoundland Greenland halibut quota. Groleau has taught at the Université du Québec and the Barreau du Québec's bar school, and has served in leadership roles with the Canadian Bar Association's labour-law section and the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law.
