About Christel
Christel Higgs is senior partner at M&H Law, which she co-founded with Ian Mathany in 2018 after more than 15 years working in the city-building industry. The firm concentrates on transit development, land use planning and property litigation across Ontario, and Christel has spent much of the past decade assisting with transit planning across the province. Her work has earned her recognition as a Best Lawyer in Canada in expropriation, municipal and real estate law. She regularly appears before all levels of court in Ontario, along with arbitration panels, the Ontario Land Tribunal and other administrative bodies, representing clients ranging from individual homeowners to large municipalities and government authorities. Christel was called to the bar in 2007 and belongs to the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Ontario Expropriation Association and the International Right of Way Association. She also mentors young lawyers and professionals in real estate and land development.
