About Chantal

Chantal Bertosa is a managing partner at Aventum IP Law LLP, and a lawyer and trademark agent who has practised intellectual property law for over 20 years. Her work today focuses mainly on contentious matters, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademarks Office, appeals to the Federal Court, and IP enforcement, though she remains active in trademark prosecution. She served as lead counsel in the case that established sound marks as registrable trademarks in Canada, including the MGM lion roar mark. Chantal graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Laws in 1993, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995 and the Quebec Bar in 1996, and became a registered trademark agent in 1995. She is bilingual in English and French, and belongs to the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the International Trademark Association, and Business Network International.
