Katie Wang is a lawyer, registered patent agent and registered trademark agent at Aventum IP Law LLP. She counsels clients on intellectual property procurement, transactions and enforcement, with a patent practice spanning pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, biotech, cleantech, medical device and internet-related technologies, including drafting, filing, prosecution and litigation strategy. She also handles conflict, protest and re-examination proceedings, advises on patent infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate questions, and has negotiated licensing, R&D and technical consulting agreements. As a trademark agent, she assists clients with developing and protecting their trademark portfolios and has litigated patent, trademark, domain name and licensing disputes. Katie studied physical and organic chemistry before her legal career and is fluent in Mandarin, allowing her to assist clients with IP matters relating to China. She earned her J.D. from the University of Ottawa and a B.Sc. from Jilin University, and is active with LES, AIPLA, AIPPI, FICPI, IPIC and INTA.
