Candice S. Metallic, a citizen of the Listuguj Mi'gmaq Nation, is the founder and principal of Metallic Law, Barristers & Solicitors, based in the community of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation in Ontario. She was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1997 and in Ontario in 2006, and was awarded the Law Society Medal by the Law Society of Ontario in May 2021 for her work on law reform and Indigenous rights. She focuses on First Nations governance and economic capacity, land claims and resource revenue-sharing agreements, and treaty implementation, and has worked with the Aboriginal Justice Clinic in Vancouver, as an associate at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP on the Delgamuukw case, as counsel to the Indian Claims Commission and the Assembly of First Nations, and as counsel in the 'Independent Review of First Nations on Juries in Ontario' and the investigation into the Thunder Bay Police Services Board.
