About Bruce

Bruce Hutchison is principal partner at Genest Murray LLP, where he started as a student in 1989 and has practiced since his call to the bar in 1991. He defends school boards, lawyers, and government institutions, along with general and commercial liability claims, on behalf of insurers, with experience at motions, applications, trials, and appeals at all levels of court in Ontario and at the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a past president of the Toronto Lawyers' Association and a past chair of Library Co., which oversees the Ontario county courthouse library system. He edits Risk Management in Canadian Education, published by LexisNexis, and speaks regularly on risk management and education law. He earned his LLB from the University of Ottawa in 1989 and a BA from the University of Toronto in 1983.
