About Brian
Brian Empey is a partner at Goodmans and a member of its Restructuring Group. He's advised debtor companies, creditors, regulators, committees, and court-appointed officers on insolvency matters throughout Canada, with particular experience in complex, cross-border restructurings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and in insolvencies involving securities firms and financial institutions. Empey also sits on the firm's Opinions Committee and advises on secured transactions and structured financings, including derivatives, asset-backed securitizations, and regulatory compliance in the financial services and payments industry, including crypto-assets.
