About Blair
Blair Ector is a founding partner at Loberg Ector LLP, practicing commercial litigation, constitutional litigation, criminal defence, and administrative law. He has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta, including a precedent-setting Alberta Court of Appeal decision on self-defence in R v Effert, and served as lead counsel in the successful federal court challenge to the invocation of the Emergencies Act in Jost v Canada. His commercial litigation work spans shareholder disputes, construction litigation, contract disputes, and hostile takeovers, and he has acted for police officers, military members, lawyers, doctors, and other regulated professionals facing disciplinary or legal proceedings. Blair holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Victoria, where he received several academic scholarships including the John D. Petrie, QC Memorial Scholarship and the Alberta Law Foundation Bursary.
