About Ash
Ash Deathe practices litigation and dispute resolution, with experience in administrative law, human rights, and professional malpractice, and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario as well as before administrative boards and tribunals. From 2018 to 2020 she served as counsel to the Honourable Michel Bastarache, the Independent Assessor for the Merlo Davidson RCMP Class Action Settlement, reviewing claims of sexual harassment and sex- and gender-based discrimination. She has taught upper-year seminars in legal writing and dispute resolution at the University of Ottawa's Common Law Program. Earlier in her career she worked as a litigator in private practice, concentrating on insurance defence including professional malpractice and accident benefits litigation, and she clerked at the Federal Court for Chief Justice Allan Lutfy and Justices François Lemieux and Yvon Pinard from 2009 to 2010. Deathe holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa (2008), an LL.M. from NYU School of Law (2015), and a B.A.Sc. from McMaster University (2005), and was called to the Ontario bar in 2009.
