About Ali

Ali Hussain practices complex civil litigation and international law, representing Canadian oil companies and other businesses operating in Iraq. He completed his Juris Doctor at California Western School of Law, located in San Diego, finishing in 1999, then was admitted to practice with the State Bar of California in 2001. He began his legal career handling insurance defence litigation for a national insurance company, then moved to a Los Angeles firm representing municipal government agencies, and counts a three-week jury trial that produced a multi-million-dollar judgment for a publicly traded client among his career highlights. Starting in 2012, he spent about seven years in Iraq as a consultant to Canadian oil companies, gaining experience with the regulatory regime governing Iraq's Ministry of Oil and its numerous state-owned subsidiary companies, and building relationships with government decision-makers across party lines there.
