About Mand Rai LLP

Mand Rai LLP is a small, multi-disciplinary law firm with its office at 155 Rexdale Boulevard, Suite 400, in the Rexdale area of Etobicoke, in Toronto's northwest end. Nav Rai practiced at another firm before becoming a founding partner of Mand Rai LLP in 2012. The firm's name reflects two of its current lawyers, Paul Mand and Nav Rai, and the team also includes Manny Rai, Ali Hussain, and Amandip Sahi. The firm describes its lawyers as a mix of Canadian lawyers and U.S. attorneys; Paul Mand, for one, was called to the Ontario bar in 2002 and to the New York bar in 2005.

The firm covers nine areas: general litigation, residential and commercial real estate, personal injury, corporate and commercial law, family law, mortgage enforcement, criminal defence, and immigration. Real estate is a particular focus: the firm says it has closed more than 5,000 real estate transactions and has spent 15 years developing its own transaction management software. Family law is another focus, and one of the firm's lawyers sits on the panel of Ontario's Office of the Children's Lawyer. Across the team, the firm reports more than 70 years of combined legal experience.

The neighbourhood

Mand Rai's office sits on Rexdale Boulevard, in the part of northwest Etobicoke that gives the Rexdale neighbourhood its name. Developer Rex Heslop purchased farmland in the area in 1955. The homes sold well, and soon 330 families were living in the development; the area eventually grew to about 3,600 homes. Rexdale evolved into a multicultural neighbourhood, home today to landmarks like Woodbine Racetrack and the Toronto Congress Centre.

That multicultural mix fits a firm whose practice includes immigration law, helping people reunite with spouses and family members, alongside the real estate and litigation work that has anchored the office since 2012.
